The BJP swept West Bengal for the first time in history, ending Mamata Banerjee’s 15-year rule, while actor Vijay’s TVK shattered Tamil Nadu’s half-century Dravidian duopoly in its debut election. Meanwhile, President Trump declined to confirm the Iran ceasefire as both sides traded fire near the Strait of Hormuz, and a UN body warned of an unprecedented crisis for 20,000 seafarers stranded in the Gulf.
